John Garrett constructs his interpretations of traditional fiber techniques in
copper, aluminum, recycled materials, plastic beads, hand-made paper, plus any materials
that give him the texture and color to create his two- and three-dimensional works.
As Jan Janiero has written, "He moves with ease between woven and constructed works;
between two-dimensional surface treatments and three-dimensional forms;
between the use of quietly allusive natural materials and materials that are garish,
recycled and man-made; between the making of autonomous,
individualized objects and the creation of ephemeral site-specific installations."
